Happy New Year!!

A major ice storm and family holidays made for cozy gatherings in our unaffected and warm wee condo. Luck was on our side in this little corner of Toronto. I really felt for others less fortunate as I have been through a similar experience.

But before the storm changed our priorities I did manage to see a few exhibits. Paid a visit to the meet the new owner of La Parete for the AbEx show. Nice to see that Cosmo and Dominic have handed the torch over and the doors are still open. At the AGO, enjoyed a few stunning works in their newest exhibit, The Great Upheaval, selections from the Guggenheim Collection, 1910 – 18. Franz Marc’s Yellow Cow was even more delightful than I could have imagined from years of admiring Marc’s paintings mostly from textbooks.

Besides the visual arts, I ventured down on a Wednesday evening for a beer at the Monarch Tavern to join Choir Choir Choir. What a terrific group of folks, the choir masters are funny, smart, talented and work you hard for a few hours until you get it right. With sincerity and passion we sang our little hearts out: Joni Mitchell’s River. Looking forward to the next one…you can find them on FB or Twitter.

I have also joined a book club…looking forward to meeting new womenfolk and upping my reading (beyond art history and related research) over wine and food.
